The DPO Academies prepare faculty or staff to design DPO courses and/or to teach courses with those designations. The Academies include pre-learning materials provided via the academy Canvas page, as well as multiple in-person sessions.The DPO Academy is required for all faculty who are (re)designing a DPO course for submission as part of the new Core Education curriculum, and any member of the teaching team for DPO courses (including instructor of record and recitation instructors). All participants will receive a stipend upon completion of the Academy.
The Academies are offered in two formats, an in-term format and a summer session format. For in-term sessions, faculty will meet multiple times during the term on a rotating basis. For summer session academies, participants will meet for longer sessions on consecutive days during the first week of summer.

DPO Academy I: Foundations
The foundational DPO Academy engages faculty with contemporary, multidisciplinary scholarship on difference, power, and oppression, feminist and critical pedagogies, and fundamentals of curriculum transformation. If you are designing/teaching a DPO Foundations course, you must participate in the DPO Academy I, or receive a waiver for participation.
DPO Academy I sessions that run in-term will meet bi-weekly for 5 total meetings. The sessions will be held on the Corvallis campus during even weeks of the term from 9am-Noon. Participants are required to attend all sessions to complete the Academy and receive "certification" to design or teach a DPO Foundations course.
DPO Academy II: Advanced
The advanced DPO Academy provides faculty with a learning community to engage with around advanced scholarship on difference, power, and oppression relevant to their fields, as well as feminist and critical pedagogies. In order to participate in the DPO Academy II, you must have completed the DPO Academy I or recieved a waiver for the foundational academy. If you are designing/teaching a DPO Advanced course, you must participate in the DPO Academy II, or receive a waiver for participation.
DPO Academy II sessions that run in-term will meet 3 times over the course of the term on the Corvallis campus. The sessions will take place on Thursday mornings of weeks 3, 5, and 9, from 10am - Noon. Additionally, participants will be required to participate in one individualized drop-in work session. Participants are required to attend all sessions to complete the Academy and receive "certification" to design or teach a DPO Advanced course.
